The Ultrabond Challenge- The Review

As mentioned in my lastpost, over the bank holiday weekend I was taking part in the Ultrabond challenge which was put together to test the staying power of new Ultrabond lash adhesive* and the quality of Nouveau lashes*.

Ultrabond prides itself on being different to other lash glues; it is latex free and incredibly gentle on the skin making it suitable for almost everyone. To adhere thelashes I found that I needed barely any of the Ultrabond glue and once it had dried the lashes were set firmly in place and stayed there with no movement or excess gumminess.

This photo is the final selfie I took for the instagram part of the challenge and shows just before removing the lashes.i was so impressed with how well they held. The only times I felt a little less positive wasafter showering. I found that the warmth and humidity made the glue a little melty (I can't decide whether that's the right word) but as soon as my skin was dry again it toughened back up. Also, I don't think showering is exactly am occasion calling for false lashes usually!

I have to say that over all I was incredibly impressed with the results of the Ultrabond glue. As someone who loves falsies but finds them a bit of a chore with all the usual maintenance and resticking, this was like a breath of fresh air. I wasn't constantly worrying about the lashes coming off and I didn't feel like my eyes were all gummed up from too much glue. I am going to ssy that I think I will actually be wearing falsies a lot more now that I have a glue that makes them so simple to use so I'm glad I took part.

MAC Baking Beauties Eclair Paint Pot Review

After my last MAC review which was less than positive, I simply had to show you the other product I bought that same day and instantly fell in love with; the Eclair Paint Pot which is part of the limited edition Baking Beauties collection.

MAC paint pots are already a firm favourite of mine due to the long lasting colour, crease proof formula and pretty colours and I could have happily bought all of the limited edition shades if my budget allowed...and still might have to go back for Moon Cake if it's still available when I get paid ;)

Eclair is a beautiful light chocolate shade with a gold pearl gleam running through it. In some lights it appears dark brown where as in others it's lit up and full of deep gold warmth.

The colour is very buildable and can either be used lightly and blended out for a fairly natural glow with a nude eye or worn heavier for a deep chocolatey look which I personally favour.

In terms of wear, I have no trouble wearing this colour across the lid as a thick liner and find that it does not crease at all even with no primer and it also doesn't fade. I usually use a dab of the Painterly paint pot to even out the colouring of the full lid then swipe this along the top. Its a really simple way to get a pretty, made up look without spending hours or having any maintenance.

Over all, I think this may actually be one of my favourite ever MAC products, and more than makes up for the nail varnish fiasco and I already know it will be worn to death. Eclair costs £14.50 and whilst it's sold out on the website, I've seen it on several MAC counters in stock over the last few days so it is still out there if you're quick! Similar shades you can get online that are similar though are Rubenesque (which does have shimmer) or Quite Natural and Groundwork (which are pretty chocolate shades with no shimmer) all of which are part of the permanent collection :)

Tri-pentox Age Defying Eye Serum Review

I thought I'd do things a little differently today for this review (mainly because I couldn't be bothered to whip out the Nikon to take photos) so we have some cheery looking webcam photos.

Todays review is for the wonder product that is Tri-pentox age defying eye serum which is made with a special formula and included tripeptites. A bit of a mouthful but one hell of a good cream. I've been using this for the last few weeks now, around a month maybe, and the difference it has made is already brilliant. I know I'm a little young to start on age defying products really, but its always better to prevent it early than regret it later so when I saw this in TK Maxx for just £6.99 I simply had to pick it up, especially when the normal RRP is £45.

The applicator is a fancy glass pipet type of affair which I love. I think its kind of pointless for a product where you need to use so little in each application, but it makes it feel all fancy and scientific which pleases me in a strange way. Be careful with this applicator though because it does make it very easy to use too much at once.

(Excuse the blueness of this photo, my webcam isn't the best quality) I apply this product each night after removing my make-up, cleansing and moisturising the rest of my face. The formula is lovely. A really light creamy consistency makes it nice and gentle and it sinks in beautifully when you rub it lightly in small circles (don't get it in the actual eye though, that stings like nothing else in the world!)
Since I've started using this I have really noticed a big difference in the quality of the skin around my eyes. Because I'm such a fair skinned person I have a lot of trouble with dark circles under my eyes but there has been a lot of improvement with these and they have been a lot more subtle and less corpse like.

Over all, I am 100% sold on this product. Whilst I think £45 is steep for an eye cream, it really had done wonderful things for my eyes, it leaves them feeling fresh, hydrated and brighter as well as reducing the appearance of dark bags so I would definitely consider re-buying when I run out. I also recommend looking out for this and other Tri-pentox products in TK Maxx because they do pop up occasionally for amazing prices. A big and smiley thumbs up from Annie for this one.
