Makeup Mugshot: Minerals and Shimmer

Today has been amazing so far, I got offered a new job which I'm really excited to start, the sun has been shining and actually giving off warmth aaand I've been shopping (photos here). To celebrate such a fab day I'm going out this evening with my lovely mummy :)

Today I kept makeup pretty simple, going for subtle cheeks and lips, a little shimmer on the eyelids but lots of super black mascara, I just love the look of my lashes with the Soap and Glory Thick and Fast mascara *review here*
Lolly the Grumpy Kitty is having one of her clingy days and growls whenever I try to move her from my lap so she's in my mugshots too today haha.
Products used:

Face:
Bourjois 123 perfect foundation in light vanilla
Lush sheer face powder in emotional brilliance
Miners blush and bronze duo
Bare Minerals warmth all-over
Benefit High Beam
Topshop Brighten concealer pen

Eyes:
Bobbi Brown mahogany shadow on brows
Bobbi Brown baby pink shadow all over lid
Catrice Made to Stay cream eyeshadow
Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara

Lips:
MAC Brave lipstick

It always amazes me listing down what I've used just how much makeup it takes to look like you...only a bit better because I'd definitely call my very made up face a natural look. Madness eh what we do to feel confident :)
Have a good monday! I am!

Makeup Mugshot ...Ooooh, Shiny

So, autumn is definitely here. The weather has been rubbish for days and my hat and scarf have been traveling everywhere with me so to brighten things up a bit and cheer myself up I went for bright, sparkly colours today :)
On my face I kept things pretty simple and just used Ginvera BB cream, accessorize blusher and Lush Feeling Younger skin tint as a highlighter along my cheek bones and under my brows.
On my eyes I started with a base of MAC Painterly Paint Pot to prime all over the lid, I then used a 17 plum purple shadow from the lashes up to the crease. Next I lined along the lashes with Lush Fantasy gold eyeliner. On the bottom lash line I used Catrice Made to Stay cream shadow in Lord of the Blings and I blackened the water line using my Bobbi Brown kohl liner. To finish off I applied a thick coat of my trusty  Max Factor False Lash Effect.
On my lips I used Lush lipstick in Believe and topped it off with a coat of clear Barry M gloss.

Of course, as Lolly the Grumpy Kitty likes to always be the centre of attention, she wouldn't let me snap my mugshot without trampling all over the keyboard. But she looks uber pretty too, even without makeup :)
What do you think of my gloomy day makeup? What sort of look do you wear when you want to add a bit of colour and cheer to a gloomy day? Doesn't Lolly look gorgeous with her ickle whiskers? =^.^=

Makeup Mugshot #3

Hello,
I have been so busy over the last few days its unreal. I've been doing a lot of over time and when I haven't been working I've spent some great time with lots of various friends as well as Dan and my mum. I haven't really had much tome for blogging but I'm charging my camera as I speak so that I'll be able to take some photos for some product reviews this week. I'm a bit lipstick crazy at the moment so there's a few new lippy reviews I'm a put together as well as the well known dupe of Benefits High Beam from Technic which I bought the other day and love! I'm also planning a eyebrow how-to post for one day this week so there should be lots going on.
For now though, here is todays makeup mugshot. Sorry about the eye bags, I was rather hung over this morning and there's only so much that makeup can do!
What I'm Wearing:
Base:

  • Max Factor Xperience Weightless foundation in Beige Linen (terrible colour name, just makes me think of dirty sheets, eew!)
  • Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer
  • Natural Collection Loose Powder
  • Natural Collection Bronzing Pearls
  • The Balm Hot Mama blusher
  • Technic High Lights highlighter
Eyes:

  • Rimmel London black/brown brow pencil
  • Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in pastel pink
  • Rimmel London Glam eyes liquid eyeliner
  • Max Factor False Lash Effect black mascara
Lips:
  • M.A.C satin lipstick in Brave
  • Barry M clear lipgloss
  • 17 lip liner in Fawn
Its amazing how much makeup it takes to look normal version of yourself after a night out. It also takes extra time when you have a cat come and sit in the middle of everything whilst you're trying.
Got to love Lolly the Grumpy Kitty!

Birthday Antics and a Lush Review

Hello,
Today has been another lovely sunny day here in Bath. It has also been my lovely mummy's birthday so we've spent the day together having some fab girly time. We shopped, we went out for lunch, we had cake and have spent some time this evening pampering ourselves. Its been really nice :)
On our shopping trip we spent some time in Lush and picked up a couple of goodies; Lovely Jubblies cream for the neck and bust and a pot of Love Lettuce face mask.

Love Lettuce is a face mask that uses almond shells to exfoliate skin as well as drawing out any excess oil and leaving skin beautifully soft thanks to the use of almond oil and a bit of mud :) Its best used on normal to oily skin and worked really well on my combination skin. Because all of the ingredients are natural this only has a shelf life of four weeks and needs to be kept in the fridge. In this weather using it fresh from the fridge was soooo nice because it was so cool and soothing.

Cue much hilarity as we sat smearing green stuff all over our faces.
So as we sat there with green goo all over our faces it began to slowly set and feel a little tighter, especially around the mouth. One thing I liked about this mask is that it smells softly of lavender which, whilst not my favourite smell, is nice for keeping you feeling relaxed whilst you sit there waiting for it to work for 10 minutes.
When dry we agreed that it looked a little like mushy peas or finely chopped up spinach which, as everyone knows, is incredibly sexy...so maybe avoid using this around your boy/girlfriend.
Removal took a pretty long time and we both keep finding little bits of almond shell even now but it really did leave our skin feeling beautifully soft and exfoliated. Around my mouth feels a little sensitive but that is from a little over enthusiastic scrubbing so be careful to take it easy around sensitive areas :)
Over all we both really liked the effects of this mask and would both happily use it again.
Lolly the Grumpy Kitty looked a bit over heated so I thought she'd enjoy the cold pot on her back. She looked like a little table :P

Have you used any of the Lush face masks before? Which is your favourite?
Happy birthday mum, I love you loads!

Beauty Products that I will Never Understand

Hello,
sorry there was no post up last night, I was zonked after work so just slobbed around for a few hours before an early night.
Now, we all know that there are some truly awful beauty products out there that just shouldn't be on the market. But what really bugs me at the products that are just plain pointless. Some I will just never understand. Here are my top (or should that be bottom) picks for the most pointless beauty products in the world.
Lolly and I disapproving of these pointless products. I seem to literally be made of eye bags in this photo :S

1. Lash Cards. Thats right, you can actually buy packs of cards to stop you getting mascara or make-up all over the place around your eye... Yes it is a great idea to use a little something as a "lash card" but why waste money on a special product to do so when you could easily use a tissue, cardboard tags from clothing, or even the dried up wipe you used to remove your make-up the night before which would work out a whole lot cheaper and save your much needed sanity for other, more useful past times.

2. No-touch Soap Dispensers. Soap cleans hands. Yes. We all know that. We also all know how to wash our hands; either applying the soap to dry hands before then running them under the tap and lathering up, or by wetting hands, then applying soap and lathering up, enjoying the bubbles and getting rid of the grime. Never does the soap part come last, that just wouldn't work would it? Realistically, you are only ever going to touch the soap dispenser when your hands are already dirty so why worry if that little push pump gets germs on it? Or if you pick up a few extra germs from said push pump for that matter, because the whole point of the product inside is to kill those very germs you just picked up. See, useless product!

3. Nail Varnish Wipes. I do own these and I try very hard to like them. But I just can't do it. I admit that they could be handy to take on holiday, but to be honest, why bother? A small pack of around 20-25 are quite expensive to buy, and if you are using a thick, high quality polish you need to use three of them, sometimes four, to get the damn stuff off, and even that takes a hell of a lot of persistent scrubbing (good for the old bingo wings maybe). What I don't understand is why people bother. For £1 you can get a big bottle of normal remover which takes just one or two cotton pads to clear both hands with a lotmore ease and a lot less scrubbing.

4. Seven day moisturiser. This, in itself, is a great concept. If it actually was what it says that it. It would be lovely to only need to moisturise once a week. Yet even though it claims to keep skin soft and moisturised for seven days, you still need to use it every day. Umm... Why? Surely that contradicts itself? Why not just use a normal one that admits that you need to use it each day for the proper effect and save yourself the extra money (you could maybe even save enough to fund the lash card habit...)

Other contenders that drive me bonkers:

  • Bottom lash mascara- can we really not be trusted to get those little pesky hairs with a full sized brush?
  • Lip tattoos- do people know how ridiculous these look? Yes, even you Jessie J.
  • Venetian blind glasses- what exactly is the point of glasses that you can't see through, don't enhance your sight or provide protection from the sun?
  • Stick on eyeshadow- one size really doesn't fit all girls and these crush our creative side.
So these are just some of the more pointless, or (in my mind) useless beauty buys that are on the market. How about you, do you have any products that annoy you like this? what do you think is the most pointless beauty product out there?

Photo a Week Challenge- Week Nine

Hello,
Its friday again (yayyy) and that means its time for another photo a week challenge entry.
This week the topic suited me perfectly. Planning.
I plan everything. In fact the book in the photo is my everything book and is filled with lists, plans, notes and general jottings about everything. I write a to do list in there every day, I plan all of the weeks posts for Three Little Buhos, I make note of things I love, I write down my thoughts when my head gets too full, and I add all sorts of other things too. The everything book is a god send!
I have the blogger statistics page open because I love seeing which of my posts are the most popular and which ones my lovely followers aren't interested in so that I can plan my future posts based on what you people like.
And of course there is Lolly the Grumpy Kitty keeping me company because I can't go anywhere or do anything without her following. I took this photo on my bed which is the best place in the world in her eyes, especially since she isn't usually allowed in the room.

Are you one of these people like me who need to plan everything? Or do I seem a little mad for being so overly organized?

Yay :)

Hello,
Just a quick little post to say yay because I have reached 50 followers on friend connect.
I love writing my blog and I'm so happy that there are people out there who enjoy reading what I say.
To celebrate this little milestone and to thank you lovely followers for your support I'm thinking up a little giveaway and will let you know more about that tomorrow :)

On another exciting note, Lolly the grumpy kitty has had a light hearted day, I think it must be the sunshine because she's been dopey and cuddly today. Here's some quick webcam shots of our little cuddle (excuse my face in the third photo, I was copying her grumpy face but just look a bit like a duck)
Happy day peeps! I'll pop back later with this weeks Weekly Wedding Fix

A Winter's Tale

Hello,
Its sooo chilly here! I've been so lazy and spent the afternoon curled up in bed reading and listening to the radio, pretty lush :)
I mentioned last week that I was reading a book called "A Winters Tale" by Trisha Ashley. Well, I finished it a couple of days ago and can happily say that it was well worth the money. I love the author's style of writing, its nice and descriptive and lets you draw up a good picture of the setting and characters.

The book revolves around a woman called Sohpy Winter who inherits the large family home, Winters End when her grandfather dies. She moves into the home where she spent her childhood and, glad to be re-united with the home she has dreamt about since she was forced to leave with her mother when she was still young, she immediately sets to work restoring the house to its original beauty. This angers her handsome cousin Jack as he was always raised to believe the house would become his inheritance. Jack simply cannot believe that Sophy will not sell him the property or cave into his romantic advances. And then there is the aloof gardener Seph to try and keep happy as he is less than enthused by Sophy's plans to divert labour from the garden into restoring the house when he is so near completion of a garden restoration all of his own.

This is a lovely book to relax with of an evening and is great for transporting you into the little world of Winter's End and I have little more to say other than to recommend it to anyone who likes a relaxing, easy, heart warming read :)

What books have you read recently? Are there any you could recommend I try next? I'm currently trying to resist buying the newest Katie Fforde... although if you can't treat yourself to a good book when you're ill in bed then when can you?

On a totally unrelated note, I stumbled across this shabby blogs frame last night and just had to use it asap so heres a quick photo set I put together. Lolly doesn't usually like having her photo taken, shes a grumpy old kitty :P
